Partner (Temporary) Visa (subclass 820) Summary
This visa allows the de facto partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen to temporarily reside in Australia. Obtaining this visa is the first step towards obtaining the permanent Partner visa (subclass 801).
Partner (Permanent) Visa (subclass 801) Summary
This visa allows the de facto partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen to live permanently in Australia. It is usually only granted to people who hold a temporary Partner visa (subclass 820).
This visa allows you to:
· live, work, and study in Australia while your permanent Partner visa is processed,
· stay in Australia as a permanent resident,
· work in Australia,
· study in Australia,
· access Australia's public healthcare scheme, Medicare,
· sponsor your family members to come to Australia,
· travel to and from Australia,
· attend free English language classes provided by the Adult Migrant English Program if eligible,
· apply for Australian citizenship if eligible.
To be eligible for this visa you must:
· have no visa cancellations or visa application refusals,
· apply in Australia,
· have a sponsor,
· meet age requirements,
· meet relationship requirements,
· meet health and character requirements.
