1. Visa Overview
• Visa Name: Skills in Demand Visa (Subclass 482), commonly referred to as the SID 482 Visa
• Effective Date: Comes into effect from 7 December 2024, replacing the previous Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Subclass 482 visa framework
• Purpose: Allows Australian employers to sponsor and temporarily hire skilled overseas workers to fill positions where suitable local candidates cannot be found
• Visa Type: Temporary visa, allowing holders to work, live, and study lawfully in Australia
2. Visa Streams (Subcategories)
The SID 482 visa includes several streams designed for different occupations and employer circumstances:

b. Specialist Skills
c. Labour Agreement
3. Key Eligibility Requirements
To apply for the SID 482 visa, applicants must meet the following core criteria:
1. Employer Sponsorship / Nomination
Must be nominated and sponsored by an eligible Australian employer. The position must be genuine and meet job requirements.
2. Work Experience
Applicants must have at least 1 year of full-time, relevant work experience (part-time or cumulative experience may also count).
3. English Language
Applicants must meet the minimum English language requirement unless exempt.
4. Health & Character
Applicants and family members must meet the health examination and police clearance requirements.
5. Family Members
Can include spouse/partner and dependent children as secondary applicants, either together with the main applicant or as subsequent entrants.
